One of the top universities in Canada called Wingenback to install a touch-screen display monitor measuring approximately 16’ long, 8’ tall and about 2,200 lbs. The University of Toronto is using the world’s largest touch-screen for science and computer projects.

U of T called Wingenback after other companies had tried to install the screen but had failed and had broken the glass. U of T had heard about Wingenback and our reputation for quality and creativity.

The Unique Challenge

In concept, it was a very challenging installation. The glass screen is very sensitive and we could not touch the surface of the glass screen during installation.

This was the most unique and sensitive installation we have ever completed. Our team spent a day designing the special tilting frame and rolling stand needed to get the screen from the truck, in through the window and finally mounted on the wall. It took three days to build. On moving day, a crew of seven installers spent six hours to successfully install the screen; craning it up and in through the window and then tilted into position so that it could be permanently mounted in its frame.

The design was so well done that the actual move was very easy. Wingenback was very pleased with the results and of course we were thrilled with the congratulations we received from U of T and the manufacturer of the screen. We always enjoy a good challenge at Wingenback.
